XP Home log in problem

After booting the computer I click on the icon to log on. It says loading
settings, then the desktop flashes for a second. Then it says logging off and
saving settings. It won't log on. I tried to boot the computer in safe mode
but the same thing happens. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,
Rob

I did install an Adware software and and AVG anitvirus software. I ran the
Antivirus software, but someone else in my office click a box that asked
"restart computer". Once she did that, the CPU did not want to let us log on
anymore. (Every time, we log on, in seconds it logs off....What can we do to
get in. )
It wont accept my password and I do not have a Boot start up Disk or CD.
Where can I download an XP Boot CD, so I can try to get into my computer.
Are there any instructions on how to do this process?
I need to get in and log on?
Please help!
