XP Home installation

I am having difficulty installing an OEM version of Windows XP Home. The
system is brand new and has never had an operating system. I made the six
floppy disk set to initialize setup. After installing these disks, and being
prompted to enter my XP Home CD...Install begins. Install terminates and I
receive a message that says "The following value in the .SIF file used by
setup is corrupted or missing. Value 0 on the line in section
[SourceDisksFiles] with key "SP2.cab". Setup cannot continue. To quit setup,
Press F3"

The only times i have seen this type of behavior it has turned out that i
have a bad CD-rom drive on my hands or the cd itself is scratched or marred.
sounds to me like it might be your cd-rom drive. even though it is new i
would try and put a diffrent one in its place just for the install and see if
it goes smoothly or not.

Why are you using the 6-boot disks? The XP CD is bootable (if it is legal).
Boot up with the XP CD and then follow the prompts to format and install
Windows XP.
