XP Home Installation Disc

My computer came from the manufacturer with Windows XP Home already
installed. I recently developed a problem that the manufacturer says
requires me to insert the Windows XP disc. I don't have a disc, and never
did have one. The manufacturer insists that they did ship one with the
computer, but it does not appear on my invoice. The manufacturer utterly
refuses to supply me with a disc now. They claim that I had to report any
missing software within 90 days of receiving the machine. Well, the XP came
pre-installed, and the disc is not listed on the invoice, so how was I
supposed to know it was missing?

How do I get a disc without having to pay anything for it? Yes, I do have
a registration number. Please provide a link to an exact address where I can
get this disc. Prefer you email me directly at (e-mail address removed). Thank
you very much.

you can recieve replacement media from the manufacturer of the computer.
They are required by law to provide some sort of replacement media,

alternatively, you could borrow an OEM installation CD and copy it and use
the Product key that came with the system to install XP.

What were the terms and conditions?"...report any
missing software within 90 days of receiving the machine."
Was it mentioned in black and white?

Don't know who your manufacturer is, but I recently discovered that HP
put what would have been on the recovery disk on the computer itself and
you can burn them to a CD. (In fact I saw a recent lawsuit over this
practice because it uses up some of your hard drive space.) I burned
the CDs myself, but just in case, I contacted HP and got a set from
them. They made me pay a small sum because my computer was out of
warranty, but they did provide them.

Why in the world would you have not expected to have received the
installation disk, invoice or not? Didn't you bother to ascertain
exactly what you were going to receive for your money *before*
committing to the purchase? For that matter, why didn't you just look
in the box and go through *all* of the documentation and other material
before discarding it?

How do I get a disc without having to pay anything for it?

At this point, you probably can't. But the cost of a replacement CD
from the manufacturer should be nominal.

We can't do so, as you haven't told us who the computer manufacturer
is. With OEM licensing the PC manufacturer has sole and complete
responsibility for all support issues, to include lost installation CDs.

It's between you and the computer manufacturer. There is no place we
can refer you to get an XP installation disk for free. The manufacturer
is required to provide you with some means of restoring the system.
They have three choices:

1. XP installation CD
2. Recovery CD
3. Hidden partition on the hard drive with an image of the drive as
shipped from the factory.

Have you checked the computer documentation to see if you have the
hidden partition?

Your a jerk, plain and simple, totally useless.

Humm, Bruce pointed out a few valid points to the OP, so that makes him
useless? Perhaps a reality check?
