Have read many of the threads and even followed the Kelley's Corner link,
which is great BTW, but not sure if answers are dealing with the same issue.
M-in-L computer has OEM, became very slow several months ago, I checked for
viruses and OK, and when booting hangs in a continuous cycle trying to
chkdsk. Tried safe mode and locks up there. Last file shown loading is
apgcpq.sys. Found a solution on MS regarding a file named agp440.sys
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;324764&spid=1173&sid=156 but
seems to be associated with upgrades. Any thoughts?

OEM recovery media do make systems slow, if you have used it to recover the
harddrive. I had one customers computer in yesterday which after a partition
recovery was still slow, so I decided out of the blue to do a hard drive
diagnostic and found the drive to be faulty, replaced the drive and all was
good, your problem may just be a build up of rubbish programs and registry
entries, try running some spyware software and unchecking any unwanted
programs on start-up, but do try the manufactures hard drive diagnostic
tools.

Sounds good. Still need to know how to fix the hang issue when booting?
