Windows hangs when booting the system

I need to repair a Windows 2000 pro installed HardDisk, which has been placed
into a new Computer with different Hardware, without rewriting its Registry
(using the Win 2000 Cd to boot and choosing the Repair option).

When tryin to boot the System Windows hangs, also in Safe Mode. Ive tried
various repair options using the Windows 2000 repair (chkdsk /r, chkdsk /f,
fixboot, fixmbr) but it didnt help.

When I boot in Safe mode it hangs at:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT\system32\DRIVERS\amd751.sys
Ive removed the amd751.sys file and replaced it with another one from the
w2k CD - no change.

I understand that I can use the Recovery Console to uninstall hardware, but
am not sure how to go about it.

Plz I need U R G E N T help!

PS: Is there any newsgroup for Windows 2000, I couldnt see any @
microsoft.com
