I have XP home edition installed and want to access this computer using the
remote desktop feature. Do I need to install XP Professional to use the
remote desktop feature? If so, how do I install the XP Professional OS when
I already have the home edition already installed?

Thanks,

You are correct that XP Home cannot be the host computer for Remote
Desktop. You could upgrade to XP Pro or you could use third-party remote
control software instead. UltraVNC is free. pcAnywhere is commercial.
