XP home edition verses professional. what the difference?

i just upgraded my computer to XP home edition from 98. I downloaded Maya 6
personal learning edition (animation program) but the required is XP
professional. does any1 know why and what the difference between home and pro
is?

As to Maya's requirements, you would need to ask them why their software
needs Pro.

It may be due to maya's support of dual processors which windows xp pro
supports but home doesn't.
