You probably have Service Pack 2 installed on the Home Edition.

Try uninstalling SP2 and then install XP Pro. You will need to install SP2
and all of the updates after XP Pro is installed.

My PC came with SP2 and Win Home. I wnent to ad remove programs but there is
no SP2 nor in Win Updates? The Win pro upgrade I have is SP1. Is there any
other way to do that upgrade? Thank you.

Then you'll have to follow Jupiter Jones' other suggestion and make a CD of
XP Pro with SP2 slipstreamed into it.

This means that your installed OS is at a higher service pack level
than is the WinXP Pro CD you're using. You'll either need to uninstall
SP2 before attempting the upgrade, or try slipstreaming SP2 into the
upgrade.
