when i use the xp disc for a recovery-it requires my administrator
password, in my case i never had need for a password, so never created
one. hence i cannot repair my current xp.
so, i created an administrator password, went to the recovery page &
it does not recognize any password i've created.tried typing "admin",
no good.
any ideas on this problem would be greatly appeciated, since my only
option now is to format the hardrive-thanx. new to this group.

Sure you can, just hit 'return' (blank password). That's the default for
most XP Home installations.
