hi,writing this on behalf of a mate,so bear with me,is there any way of
removing evrything on a hdd without removing xp home? problem, friend recently
installed nav '05,but a previous unistallation of his antivirus software did
not uninstall correctly (panda) and now i think there is a conflict between
the two, thus making the pc respond very very slowly (takes approx 10-15 mins
to get the start menu up after you click on it),but he cant do a formatt as
he doesnt have an xp home cd (is 100% sure he has never had one),,if the xp
cd comes with the little green xp booklet then it was never included as he
has the booklet which is still unopened in its wrapper. (as i recall mine was
in with the booklet)....or is there any way of removing the antivirus
software without doing a formatt...have tried safe mode but it just says
remove it in normal mode, but cant do this as it doesnt respond?....help
muchly appreciated

If the System Restore function is available to you attempt to reset the PC to
a date immediately prior to the installation of NAV 05.

If no restore point or System Restore was not activated, then you'll need to
backup all files and settings and then do a full rebuild - clean install!

yep..tried system restore in safe mode...no difference..it said no changes
were made?tried a few diff restore points..his pc is a packard (crapard)
bell...it did come with a packard bell software library cd? would this be his
xp disc...ive heard that packard bell supply ''mirror'' discs with there
pcs..im unsure if the ''software library'' is such a disc. he cant rebiuld as
there is no xp disc..thus he wont have an operating system...hes currently
gettin in touch with the retailer to see if an xp disc should have been
included..was purchased in mid '03..as i find it very unusual for an xp disc
to have not been included...is it possible to obtain an xp disc from
microsoft as it was purchased legitamatly, otherwise hes looking at roughly 80
ponuds (uk) to purchase it?...im doin all the correspodence for him via the
web as he cant acsees it due to the slowness of his pc......ps if the system
restore has no effect, could his pc be infected with a virus?..his previous
software expired some time ago.

thanks again

hi again..i tried the system restore (in safe mode) but it didnt change
anything..if the system restore has no effect..(it said no changes were
made)..tried it three times on different restore points..could his pc have a
virus?..or another prob?..previous software expired some time ago..he got a
slap for that..thus new nav'05....he cant formatt yet as no backup disc of xp
was included when he purchased it,,thus he'll have no op system to
install...his pc is a (crapard) bell..he has got a ''packard bell software
library disc'' he says...is this a ''mirror disc''(have read about them in
various newsgroups on this site''..if so'''would it be possible to boot from
this disc(if xp is on it)?..

thanks again
