(XP Home) can no longer stop monitor from going into standby?

For some reason I can not stop my monitor from going into "standby"
mode. This is a recent occurence. I have double checked all the "Power
Saving" settings and the Display settings...everything looks correct
but the monitor still goes into standby.

My ViewSonic takes at least 20 minutes to warm up and I can't figure
out what else to check. I've also checked the BIOS settings.

Hi, Vic. From your description of the problem, it sounds like your
monitor is dying. I can't imagine a modern monitor needing 20 minutes
to "warm up". Usually you turn them on and they just work. To
troubleshoot this, attach the pc to a different monitor. If everything
works well, you've confirmed that your ViewSonic needs to be replaced.

It's brand new (3 months) and has always acted this way. I'm into
high-end 3D gaming and it's true...all CRT's require a long "warm-up"
time to get their best picture...my last 5 CRT monitors acted the
same, in some way or another. This one has a penchant for starting
with the screen "too big" for the monitor...the edges are
off-screen...until it warms up.

Either way, I'd like to know why the system keeps putting the monitor
in "standby" when every setting I know of for this is "off". As I
said, this is a "new" occurence (2 weeks?) and I can't, for the life
of me, figure out what, if anything, I did.

There are 3 other "accounts" on this system...but none are admin's.
(Darn kids!!) LOL!
