XP Home bubble popups

I have had computers with all Windows versions except for ME. I just
purchased a laptop with Windows XP Home and it has annoying popups near the
taskbar. They look like "bubbles" as used in comic stips. How do I get rid
of them. They were not on my laptop with XP Professional or any earlier
editions of Windows.

Hello Linda,

Its actually quite simple, there are two different ways to go about doing
that, just take your pick which ever you like best, I recommend the first,
because you can also do many other things with TweakUI.

TweakUI/Taskbar/Uncheck Enable Balloon Tips

Or use this automated edit:

Disable Balloon Tips or Disable All (Row 11)

TweakUI/Taskbar/Uncheck Enable Balloon Tips
Unfortunately, there was not a path such as this. There is a Taskbar and
Start menu choice but under that there was only "Grouping" and "Start Menu"
and no choice for Enable Ballon Tips that I could find.

I used your second option.

I had used TweakUI for Windows 98 and thought that it was great. It is good
to see the program was upgraded.
