XP Home and XP Pro Issue?

Guest

I have a home network running with HPNA 2.0. This network is bridged with
another one connected to a wireless access point. I use the access just for
my laptop. Everybody can access the Internet fine, but...

I cannot "see" an XP Pro PC from my laptop with XP Home. However, viceversa
works fine. All other XP Home PC's in the network can see the XP Pro PC as
well.

Weird, I had all PC's with XP Home and I didn't see this problem. Just two
days ago I upgraded this PC to XP Pro and I see this problem.

Even weirder...I can connect to the XP Pro PC from the laptop using Remote
Desktop. Go figure!!

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Eduardo

How are you trying to "see" the XP Pro PC from your laptop? What
exactly happens when you do it?

Try accessing it directly by typing the XP Pro PC's name in the Start
| Run box in this format:

\\computer

What happens? If there's an error message, what does it say?

\\computer works fine.

I am trying to see it in my Network Places screen. When I try to add a
network place, it is not even listed under MSHOME network.

Network browsing in My Network Places can be slow and unreliable.
Since "\\computer" works, your network is OK. Put shortcuts to
desired shared disks and folders in My Network Places by clicking "Add
a network place" and specifying the network address as
"\\computer\share".

Great!,

Thanks a lot. That's what I did and works perfectly.

I'll still wonder why that computer doesn't show up in the folder structure
under MSHOME, but that's O.K. for now.

Cheers,
Eduardo
