Xp Home and W2k network problem!

I have just set up a very small network at home. This
network consist of 1 Desktop running Windows 2000, 1
laptop, running XP Home, and 1 lexmark printer.

After setting up the network I was able to get on the
internet on both machines. I could view the shared files
from the desktop running 2000 to the XP home machine. I
was unable to view shared files on the desktop from the
laptop running XP.

My printer is connected to the desktop running 2000, I
made sure that the printer was shared and also the c drive
was shared but I am unable to view any files or the shared
printer from the XP machine.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Are you running firewall software on the desktop? I had to
configure ZoneAlarm to have the other computers in the
'trusted zone'. I then lowered the protecting in that zone
so the machines could fully see and access each other.
