XP Hangs on startup

I just formatted my hard drive and re-installed XP and
now it occasionally hangs while loading XP (just before
the "Welcome To Windows" screen).
Pressing the reset button reboots the computer and it
might or might not load into windows. If Windows loads
correctly it will run perfectly fine.
There are no new devices or hardware attatched and I did
not have this problem before the format.
I have run a system check when it loads up ok, and
everything checks out fine (device errors, computer
temperatures, voltages, etc.). I even tried a "repair"
installation of windows and I get the same problem.
- Athalon 900MHz, Asus A7V MB, 512 MB RAM, TI-4200,
Sound Blaster Value, etc.
Any Ideas???
Thanks
