xp hangs on install / uninstall

hello

i'm trying to "Uninstall" and re-install some software.

the "uninstall" (from the control panel > add/remove) hangs at 15% progress.

I also tried installing (dreamweaver mx) overtop of the old one, but the
install process also hangs at 0% progress.

can anyone tell me what might be happening to winXP pro that I might be
able to tweak?

Try a manual deinstallation: remove the files for the application,
then scan the Registry for the name of the program and the install
folder and remove all references that are left here. Restart Windows
and retry installing the program.
