xp hanging

Hello my pc is hanging on boot at the xp screen it just sits there looking
pretty. I have started in safe mode and operation is fine, I have then tried
to restore as far back as I dare, when it re-boots I get a message saying
nothing has changed and it will not restore to any date I have tried. Any
one got an Idea ??
 
Hi

Try 'Last Known Good Configuration' - on the same screen as the Safe Mode
option.
