XP guest user

as an administrator user, I can print just fine, as a guest user the "printer cannot communicate with the computer". what gives?

Norton Antivirus usually.

Go to the Control Panel and click on Printers & Faxes. Right click on the
printer and select Properties. In the Advanced tab, change it from using
the Print Spooler to Print Direct to Printer.

Or change your antivirus software!
