Can't Print in Guest Account

B

Bob

I'm using Windows XP Home SP2 and printing works fine in my (administrator)
account, but when I switch to the Guest Account it does not. I have an HP
6110xi and when I use it's toolbox to print a test page in the guest account
it works fine. But if I try to print from an application such as Word
nothing happens. I noticed that the document appears in the print queue for
a split second and then disappears.

I have set the printer to sharing and have even gone into safe mode to give
gull rights to all accounts but this hasn't helped.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using a Norton product for antivirus protection? If so, in the
Properties of the printer, under Advanced, set it to Print Direct to Printer
instead of using the Spooler.

An addition, on setting that option the Return to Application time would be
several times
the RTA when using spooler.

I am using Norton but I couldn't find anything in the printer properties for
printing direct to printer. I did find "Background Printing" which I
disabled and "Low Memory Mode" which I enabled both separately and together
but that did not solve the problem. Any other suggestions?

In the Control Panel, click on Printers & Faxes. Right click on the printer
in question and select Properties. It's the second tab, marked Advanced
that you will be looking for.

This worked BUT it takes a very very very long time to print. Is there any
other way around this?

Thanks for your help.

Chose a different antivirus/firewall solution. Norton apparently do know
about this issue, but do not seem inclined to do anything about it.
