XP Freezes??

this is the first time i see this:

a user in the office managed to make windows XP freeze on
shutdown!!

did anyone see this before and if yes how do i fix it?
i made sure that all the microsoft upgrades are installed
and uninstalled programs left and right and it still
freezes. i do not want to format this laptop.

Hey, try checking with the laptop manufactorer's drivers.
See if there is any powemanagement or so

Very often, shutdown freezes are because some program is not exiting
gracefully. Here is a link to a great source for troubleshooting

understand you don't want to format the laptop, and probably you won't
need to, but be sure all data is properly backed up because Bad Things
Happen With Computers(tm).
