Xp freezes at the welcome screen.......

Steve

Ive had my Dell computer for almost a year and a half and
just today I went to start the computer and it freezes at
the welcome screen. I can move the mouse around but thats
it. I have tried Ctrl+alt+del but nothing happens. Just
plain frozen. I have unplugged the computer to reboot and
still the same result. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated. Please send any response to
(e-mail address removed) as Im not sure Ill be able to
find this group again to check for an answer.
Thank You, Steve

You might boot to the CD.

Put the XP CD in the drive. Turn your computer on, and hit F8 until you see
a boot menu. Choose Boot to Repair Console.

When you get to a prompt, type "chkdsk /f" without the quotes. Note the
space!

It will check your computer for problems and fix them.
