XP fonts missing

I checked the list of fonts that come with Windows XP
(http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/winxp.htm) and I seem to be
missing several of them. XP was installed on my computer when I bought it. Do
some of the fonts not install automatically? If I reinstall XP, can I get the
missing fonts? If I do this, do I have to reinstall SP 1 &/or 2 as well?

Just look on the XP install CD for the FONTS folder, so you
know where it is located. Open the Control Panel/Fonts and
on the file menu, click "install new font..."

You can install new fonts from many sources, word pressing
programs, other versions of Windows or from download sites
and publishers. Some are free and some cost money.

Thanks, but I can't find a Fonts folder on the CD. Or, to be more precise, I
found E:\VALUEADD\MSFT\FONTS which contains only 2 files: Arial Alternative
Regular and Arial Alternative Symbol. Could the FONTS file you refer to be in
one of the CAB folders?

The majority of fonts on the XP CD are in the I386 folder. And thay are
compressed.

I.e. all the true type fonts, *.ttf are listed as *.TT_

No separate Fonts folder on the CD, but in the i386 one all files with
extension .tt_ are compressed .ttf font files and can be expanded into a
work folder on disk, from which install then in Fonts, using 'Copy to
Fonts folder'
