When i go into the security center i noticed that my firewall is turned off.
when i try to turn it on all i get is an error message saying that the
associated service is not running. when i try to run it i get another message
saying that it cannot be turned on. does anyone know what i can do?
Thanx

Could it be a spyware has blocked it from being activated? Have you
scanned your system recently for spywares/malwares?

Do you have another firewall installed? Zonealarm? Norton Internet Security?
Norton Antivirus with worm protection? Any of these will disable the Windows
firewall.

i have no other firewalls installed anymore. i have deleted them all.

But you did have them at one time. Some artifacts may have been left behind.
Especially if you didn't uninstall them properly.

What antivirus are you using? Some of them have a simple firewall for worm
protection.
