Every time I sign on to my pc, the Security Center keeps popping up and
tells me that my firewall needs to be turned on!
I turn it on every time now.
Why doesn't stay turned on?
This had suddenly started for no apparent reason.
I am also running ZA Free which has been on this pc for several months with
no problems.
Help & Suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Jack Barrett

I suspect your prob is caused by running 2 firewalls at a time: SP2 firewall
and ZA.
Disabling/uninstalling ZA should solve your problem. You no longer need it
since the firewall function is now included in Windows

Windows Firewall protects incoming traffic only...better to use Zonealarm.

latest ZA will work in conjunction w/ built-in; built-in "comes on" very
early in boot process, protects system during boot, ZA then "takes over",
disabling built-in automatically. Useful if you're connected to an
always-on gateway (ie, cablemodem or LAN), not so important if you
dial-up.

As stated, built-in does not stop outgoing unless you explicitly disable a
port. So, if your system acquires a trojan it can still call home. Note
ZA's outbound protection is NOT foolproof though, a well-written trojan
can still call home by going thru IE or svchost. "Outbound protection" is
a bit of a myth...
