XP Firewall and lpr

Matt

I need to keep our firewall up on the main XP Pro machine
but cannot receive UNIX print commands (lpr/lpd) to our
printer at the same time.

What can we do to enable this through the Windows XP Pro
firewall?

Matt, I just wanted to say thanks. I learned something new today.

In the Internet Connection Firewall settings you can Add a Service.
Description, I used LPD but this does not matter. For computer I used the
local computer name. External Port number is 515 and TCP. You do not need
an internal number. Save and you can receive lpr sent print jobs.

for more (almost too much) info on LPD
