HPUPD version:4.5 or 4.7
NOS: win2003 sp2 on a domain, Client OS : Vista and XP
90% of HPUPD compatible printers won't work when installed on standard tcpip
port BUT work OK when installed on LPR port.
HP instructs to install them on tcpip port but we always get an error msg :"
the selected printer(\\servername\printername) is not a supported hp device".
When create a new printer port using LPR port, all work OK.(no error msg at
all)
What's the problem here ?will the use of LPR port cause any trouble in the
future ?
HP won't come up with solid solution, try this, try that...
The stupid think about this is :most of traditional print driver cannot be
found on HP web site..
HELP.
