XP Firewal

I am using a laptop with a wireless link to my home network. The laptop
is using Windows XP Home edition, I am unable to switch off the inbuilt
XP Firewall, the boxes are greyed out.

I am using laptop to share folders/printers on network and that is
working correctly, is there another way to switch off Firewall and
retain ICS, I wish to use a third party firewall and XP Firewall causes
conflicts, any help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

I think you will find that you need to be logged on with your Admin account
to turn off the Windows Firewall.

Thanks for reply Chris,
I am logged on as administrator, I can not access and switch off
firewall normal way, I have been into "Services" but if I switch off
Firewall/ICS settings I would then loose my sharing capabilities.

I was hoping to find a means to switch off Firewall (XP's) via registry,
then install my own firewall, I can not do that until XP is Off owing to
conflicts.
