XP files invisble on older OS

I have a PCMCIA removable drive which I would like to use to transfer
files between a machine running Windows XP and a machine running
Windows 95 (OSR2). However, there seems to be a problem. While Windows
XP has no problems reading files created in Windows 95, the reverse
causes problems. Either the file is simply invisible to 95, or worse,
95 sees corrupted directory entries and a corrupted volume lablel.

What could cause this? How do I persuade XP to create its files in a
way that is readable to Windows 95?

Format the drive as FAT32.

First, be more specific.
What file types are trying to transfer?
Do you have the same software, used to create the files, on both computers?
Same Version?
For example, Word 6 will have problems trying to read Word 2003 files, but
not the reverse since Word 2003 know what to expect from Word 6. However,
if Word 2003, when you save a document, you can save it in the older Word 6
format.

If the drive is using the NTFS file system then that would cause the
situation that you describe. Windows 95 (also 98 & Me) cannot access
drives that use the NTFS file system.

Also, how large is the drive? Most of the ones that I can find are
under 10 gb in size, usually 2 or 6 gb. However if yours is larger
than 32 gb then that could also be a cause as Windows 95 cannot use
hard drives larger than 32 gb, even if they are using the FAT32 file
system.

And finally, do you have the proper Windows 95 drivers for this card?
Many newer products do not include drivers for Windows 95.

Good luck
