Appearently when I installed XP, it defaulted to my D
drive instead of the C drive which is where the OS should
be. The D drive is called "system sav" and is very
small. Can the OS (XP) be transfered to the C drive? I
keep gwtting messages telling me the d drive is almost
full. Anyone can help me out?

Is this an upgrade to a Win98 or ME Compaq? Compaq has a System Save
drive to enable the Recovery Disk to function. If this is the case,
since you've just hosed the System Save drive and won't be using the
Recovery Disk anyway, boot the system with the WinXP cd and delete both
partitions. Create one large partition (which will now be C:)and clean
install Windows XP again.
