XP file shares and SP2

Hello:

I have two PCs running WinXP Pro, which I will call PC1 and PC2. There is
no domain controller. They are networked by a multi-port cable/DSL router,
and both are simply part of the same workgroup.

PC1 has several folders that were setup as shares. PC2 was able to access
the shares prior to SP2. Both PCs were updated with SP2, and followed
Microsoft's "Before you install SP2" steps, which included

1) Check for unwanted software, such as using Lavasoft's Ad-aware.
2) Perform PC manufacturers updates.
3) Protect and backup important files.

SP2 was then installed on the PCs. Now, PC2 can no longer see PC1's shares,
nor can it see PC1 in its My Network Places. PC2 can see itself in its My
Network Places, but PC1 can not see itself in its My Network Places.

Does anyone know what went wrong and how to fix this? Any help will be
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

One quick thought, disable the XP firewall on both
machines, after installing SP2 it starts up active.

I'm surprised they do not see each other in My Network
Places?

Rather in the Firewall Control Panel applet, Advanced page, uncheck it
for the connection between machines. leaving it in action for any
connection to the Internet
