On a newly built machine I am trying to use the search
facility in Windows Explorer to find files using either "A
word or phrase in the file" or "All or part of the
filename". Either way the facitlity will not return any
results no matter what I try

I have ticked "Search System files and folders", "Search
Hidden files and folders" and "Search subfolders", and
selected the folder the look in

I have tried changing the Files and Folders search
behaviour, whether I choose Advanced or Standard I still
get incorrect search results.

I know the files I am looking for exist. Is there a bug or
a system setting I need to change, or a patch?

I am running XP 2002 SP1

Many thanks in advance

See if this helps: http://support.telop.org/xpsrch.htm.

Another option is to use a different search tool, which is what I do. I
like the free Agent Ransack from
