xp error 1722 re installer

trying to install java downloader and new version of java
on my pentium with windows xp professional, and install
ends with message "error 1722. There is a problem with
windows installer package. A program run as part of the
setup did not finish as expected." I've searched
knowledge base, and error 1722 has something to do with
remote assistance, but makes no mention of windows
installer troubleshooting.

error 1719 seems to be getting close to the problem, but
isn't the precise answer.

anybody got a suggestion? i've currently uninstalled
java, and would like to get it back.

I don't if you already found the answer for your problem, but I saw a
post to turn on your "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
Networks". I turned it on and uninstalled and re-installed java and it
works. Why it maked a difference who knows but it works now.
