XP doesn't boot till I unplug the printer USB cable.

Recently I had to re-install XP. Setup would not work. I had the printer USB
cable and ethernet cable plugged in. I found out that I had to unplug
everything except the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Now that I have XP
installed and running, whenever I boot the machine, I have to unplug the
printer USB cable for XP to load. The machine will POST and nothing but a
black screen, just as soon as I unplug the USB cable for the printer, XP
starts loading. I've checked my bios repeatedly, boot order, etc...
Everything seems to be fine in the bios. This can be annoying when I have to
reboot the machine. I'm not sure why this is happening or what I can do.

Try refreshing the USB HUB device drivers.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the HUB devices, Action
menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers again
automatically.

This behaviour has nothing to do with Windows drivers because it happens
during system boot-up. At this time there are no USB drivers loaded. This
problem occurs on one of my computers which has a i815 mainboard with
onboard VGA. Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution until now.

What is the solution?

I will try it and see. I have already un-installed and re-installed the
printer and the drivers to no avail.

I don't know. I couldn't find anything. My PC doesn't have a USB printer. So
the problem arises only when I forget to unplug my USM memory bar during
boot-up. When there is this problem I simply unplug the memory bar.
