Xp does not Shut Down, it restarts when clicking on Shut Down button

Hi,
I have the problem, that Windows XP restarts when I click
on the Shut Down button. After clicking the PC runs down
and restarts immediately. I don't have an error message
or an blue screen.
What can i do

You might try this... start-> run-> type "shutdown -s"
without the quotes.

If that works you can make an icon on your desktop to
restart by right-clicking an empty area on the desktop ->
new text file -> name it shutdown.bat -> click the icon ->
rightclick the icon -> choose edit -> type "shutdown -s"
without the qoutes -> save and exit.
