After deleating the w32\alemod.f.dll virus and reinstalling my wininet.dll
file by desktop is solid white and cannot be changed. Any ideas of what
files control that?
Thanks

Start, Control Panel, Display, Desktop, make selection
from list under Background, click on Apply and OK.
Restart the computer.

Hope this helps.

Is the Background area in the Display properties restricted (greyed out)? If
it is then edit the registry at the following locations, if applicable:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop]
and/or
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop]
In the right-hand pane, delete "NoChangingWallPaper" or change the value to
0.

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
and/or
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
In the right-hand pane, delete "Wallpaper" and "WallpaperStyle".
