XP defragmentation/partitioning with metadata unmovable

Hello,

I would like to repartition my 250GB DISC with OEM XP Pro on Lenovo T
R500, to be able to create more disc spaces and install dual-boot wit
other system:
I had an issue with partitioning C:\ with all: windows native sw
PageDefrag and PerfectDisc.

1.
First, there was something in the middle of the 250GB disc (otherwis
almost empty), probably pagefile.sys and hyberfil.sys, whic
disappeared after stopping hibernation and paging options and doin
PerfectDisc offline (reboot) defrag and afterwards online "Consolidat
Space" option. What is the logic/mechanism of putting these files i
the middle of the almost empty disc?

2. MOST IMPORTANT
The only remaining thing are some 2 grey-box metadata, that ar
remaining in the middle of the disc. Cannot move them to the front o
the disc (towards other data), I don't know what they are. I tried
few defrags online/offline, consolidation, with Avast AV off, no help
Windows/PageDefrag show nothing remaining in the middle of disc (a
they showed previously with pagefile/hyberfil), only PerfectDisc see
these metadata.
Any suggestions please? I heard an advice to repartition disc withou
worries, that these metadata are disc indexing files, that will b
moved together with reducing C:/ disc space in GParted, but I don'
want to overwrite something important.

3.
Later, if I'll be able to repartition, I haven't found any relevan
experince with EISA partition, that was preinstalled on Laptop, take
16% of disc - just that it is inaccessible recovery partition. In fact
I don't want to delete it (because I didn't receive XP CDs, it was jus
preinstalled), just need to know, if I need to keep 1of4 primar
partitions reserved for it. (if I want to create other ones).

Thank you for hel

First, no "built-in" XP software will resize "existing" partitions.
You need to look at enhanced tools such as the "older" Partition
Manager.

With no retail xp cd,or oem cd,having the recovery software on the hd
that it shares with xp,youre best bet would be to purchase another hd.With
2 physical hd,you create another page file giving the option to eliminate the
one on current hd,plus one could add another OS..The changes youre planning
to make only create alot of future headaches....

Personally, in my opinion, the headache seems to have started by not using
the built in recovery partition by pressing the [F11] key or blue
ThinkVantage button at start up to see what the "best practice" choices would
have been... You can call IBM and then send your hard drive back to them for
reimaging for free, then when you do a factory reinstall, request for only
half of the hd to be partitioned with C... You will still have an EISA
formatted 3-5 GB of Hidden partition which is the recovery. But you will
still be able to boot and reinstall on the unpartitioned space whatever you
choose.

There are 3 IBM's in our office our tech guy from
WorldWideSecurityServices.org set up using xp, and the new 7 which we are all
trying out by choosing 7 at boot time... We can still boot to xp pro; as
well as, see all the files from either os while running the adjacent OS's. ~
Pretty sweet! He said made the Office and something called the 'mgwiz?' a
pretty smooth operation.

Hope this helps...
