Please can anyone tell me if I should install the latest
Windows XP Security Update (KB 810217)- "A security issue
has been identified in FrontPage Server Extensions..."
even though I do not have Microsoft FrontPage installed?

Many thanks

I would say "No you don't have to" but others on this board will say
"yes, slavishly install ALL critical updates whether they affect you or
not"

Hi Steve

Just to make sure that you don't have Frontpage Server Extensions installed:

Search for fp4awel.dll in Windows Explorer - if it is present you have FSE 2000 installed
Search for fp5awel.dll in Windows Explorer - if it is present you either have FSE 2002 or Sharepoint Team Services installed.

If neither file shows up, then you do not need to install the Update - although I'm not sure why that Update was listed for your system
