Should I insatll the latest Windows XP Security Update
(KB 810217)- "A security issue has been identified in
FrontPage Server Extensions..." even though I do not have
Microsoft FrontPage installed?

Many thanks for your time and trouble.

It wouldn't hurt to install this critical update. If ever you should
decide to install FrontPage in the future, you'll have the security
updated files already installed.

Yes, install it. A change was made in the need-detection
logic for this patch as it was noticed that a covered dll do
exist on XPs even when the server extensions are not installed.

Sorry - that info was dated.
You do not need it if IIS with FPSE is not installed,
but if you apply it it does not hurt, can be removed
but does not need to be removed.
