XP crashes - Error on device Hard Disk during paging

R

rock

Every now and then my XP box has crashes and rev\booted for no obvious
reason.

In event viewer I see this message every now and then.

Any idea as to the cause?

Would this cause the crash or the crash cause this?

Thanks,

rock

What you have there is a Stop 0x24 error, which is described as an
NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM error.

I'm suffering from a bout of this problem myself right now on one of my
systems. In my case, I think I've narrowed the problem down to an
external hard disk, attached via USB, which might be having occasional
communications problems with the device. But that doesn't necessarily
have to be your problem. Yours might be one one of your internal hard
disk. In that case, I would suggest that you run the disk check utility
on your drive.

Here's some links to Stop 0x24 errors:
