Hi
We downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 from the MS
site. The message boxes appeared to indicate that
everything occurred successfully. We "restarted" the
system when asked to do so. Now we can't get past the
welcome screen....the computer simply stops running and
the "blue screen" appears with a critical error message.
We contacted tech support for the supplier of our
computer. The comment was that most likely the download
and installation did not occur correctly and some of the
files became corrupted in the process. We have attempted
to log in under "safe mode" - same problem. Attempts to
boot up from the CD and re-install the operating system
(and begin from scratch) don't work either - blue screen
appears no matter what we've tried. Any suggestions would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Now, are you going to enlighten us as to what the "blue screen error" is, or
are we going to have to play 20 Questions?!

I have to apologize for not having the code with me, I
left everything @ my friend's house (where the computer
resides).....what I remember is a series of numbers.....as
soon as I have them I will post them....what I recall is
0000080 ? (000000? 00000?)

It wouldn't matter with you anyway, any "knowledge" you have of anything is
restricted to eating lots of greasy, fattening foods.

Then the best I can offer is sending you to look here
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm. I'm afraid the stop code was the
essential part, the rest is pretty irrelevant. Just a friendly FYI, next
time note everything that you see, whether you think it relevant or not; it
might just be the essential clue that helps someone solve the issue.
