XP Connections to Internet

After restoring the desktop from a crash, we can no
longer connect to the internt, e-mail, etc. The machine
is currently connected via cable and wireless network
adaptor (Linksys). The status of both shows a good
connection, "reparing" the connection does not change the
situation.
The computer is on Win XP SP1 (downloading SP2 failed
during the system crash event). The security package
was from Norton but the status of that is not clear and
it does not look to be operating correctly.
I can successfully ping web sites from the command screen.
The other computer on the same router works fine on
either the wireless or direct connection. I think that
eliminates issues with the ISP and the router.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Try renewing the ip address

Start > Run > type Command > ipconfig /renew

The ip address should be 192.168.X.X if you are on a router as stated below.

I downloaded the LSP Fix and ran it. No errors detected,
on restart we still have the same problem. This sounded
like a good match but I guess we have some other problem.
Thanks for helping.

I am not sure what they should be.
Perhaps this is where we will find the problem.

The windows IP configuration reports

Host name Judy (name given to the PC)
Primary Dns Suggix : This is blank?
Node type Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled : No
Wins Proxy Enabled : No

For the ethernet connection
DNS Servers : 24.164.193.57
24.170.97.62
24.170.97.63

For the wireless connection it does not show the DNS
Server line in the command that I am viewing.

From an attempt at an earlier fix, the automatic DNS was
turned off for the wireless. I have turned that back on
now and the DNS addresses are the same as for the
highspeed ethernet.
