Chris

I just finished building a new system, and i had installed
windows XP(professional, SP1), but it was giving me some
troubles. i realized that i had my Front-side bus set
incorrectly(it was at 100MHz instead of 166) so i changed
it and decided that a format/reinstall wouldn't be a bad
idea. When i went to do this it formatted my drive, and
then gave me an error saying .something about 'BAD_POOL.'
since this installation was not working, i tried to start a
new one, but when i did it is now saying that the CD in my
drive is not being read or is not a valid windows CD. I
have used this same CD many times in the past 3 or 4 days
while setting up my system(i reinstalled windows multiple
times due to various setbacks) with no problems until now.
help!

There is a slight chance that the built-in security features of XP have
counted the number of times you have read the disk in a given time period
and have decided that you are a bootlegger. Just a possiblity...
I would contact MS, but if you have the OEM, it will cost you, I think, to
chat via the net.

That is not how that system works.

BAD POOL CALLER usually implies a driver problem - the CD is not getting
read correctly
