XP CD Burning Software

Hi, I often read that you should disable the bundled XP CD
Burning Software if you want to use another third party program.

Why is this? Is it because the XP CD burning software is
set to run when Windows loads up? Or does the XP burning
software just launch when you need it like Paint or Msconfig?

This is to avoid any possible conflict between that third party program
and Windows XP's built-in CD recording features.

It is to avoid conflict.
BTW: Paint is a program and MSCONFIG is a utility to change system settings.

If you install something decent (like Nero) it should work fine
without ever having recourse to the pile of dimgo droppings that MS
try and pass off as CD burning software.

In My computer right click on the drive in question, Properties,
Recording Tab. Remove the tick mark in Enable CD recording on this drive.

If you aren't having any problems, then don't disable it. You don't
have to, you know.

OK. I just looked to see if I could find it. Where is it? What's its name?

It is because with third party packages you usually install a genuine
drag and drop component (eg Direct CD or InCD) that actually burns to
the CD. The inbuilt burning which *looks* drag and drop but is not
really, gets at cross purposes with that.
