xp cannot copy files during installation

when installing xp, it is unable to complete copying files
for installation. i have previously had the same xp
installed with exactly the same hardware!! ive been told
it could be hardware incompatability!!!

what first happened was that my pc just restarted when i
was in the middle of playing a game. this kept continuing
(not only when i played games) therefore i decided to
troubleshoot step by step starting with reinstalling
windows xp. ive installed an previous version of ME
without any problems, so i think the problem lies with XP
itself.

anyone got any solutions?? thanks

I ran into this same problem during one of my many
attempts to install XP Home on my HD.
I left the PC running thru the night. It took 14 hours for
thesetup to move ahead from there. It is now stuck at "29
minutes remaing" "Deleting FIles....." for nearly 60
hours now. The little lights in the lower right hand
corner keep moving and the narrative keeps repeating
itself but notjhing else is happening. I have new ram, a
new power supply, a new HD.
