xp camera scan - deleting pics from scanner

I uploaded over 800 pics from a SONY camera using the camera/scan program found in the XP Control Panel. After all the pics were copied onto my hard drive, the scan program did not erase the images that remained in the right hand window. I cannot delete these images, which means every time I load new pics, these 800 pics will also be part of the new batch unless I "select" only the newer pics I want to copy. Is there some way to permanently clear the old pics from the right side window after "taking the picture" from the camera? (I hope this makes sense) Thanks.

Under the Camera Tasks, left side panel, you have the command "Delete all
pictures on camera". Simply click on it after saving the pictures you took
to your hard drive.
This will empty the displayed files.

Any other ideas? I do not want to delete the pics from
the memory stick in order to see if that will wipe out
the scan screen (switching sticks should have had the
same effect). Thanks.

Try running Disk Cleanup (all options) and see
if it clears up the problem.

Oh well...it was worth a try.

If you right click one of the unwanted
image files and from the menu...choose
Properties...

On the...General tab at...Location...you
should be able to see the path to the image
files. Maybe you could go to that folder
and delete the images.

The general tab did not show the location, but I did a search for the file anyway and when I saw them in the search utility (still no location), I wound up deleting the original pics from the hard drive, and the duplicate images in the scanner wizard window disappeared, too. For whatever reason, the pics in the scanner window could not be deleted by themselves. Also, the pics in the scanner utility came up seperately from the pics in my saved folder, so I saw double images. There has to be a better way!!! :))

I think you need to explain why you cannot or will not delete the
pictures from the Delete from Camera command. If this fails then there
is a problem somewhere related to this command. Your findings are
completely at variance with routine XP performance.
