scanner and camera wizard

I am able to get the camera and scanner wizard to come up so I can copy my
pics to the computer. However, on the Wizard window where I am supposed to
name the pics and select a destination for saving them, there is a check box
saying "Delete pictures from my device after copying them." Months ago, I
was able to check that box and my pics on my camera would be erased as they
were saved to my computer. Now, that check box is there but the box and text
next to it are faded, meaning I do not have the option to select that. Why
is that? Is there anything I can do to change that? Additionally, if I go
into the removable disk menu and select delete pictures from camera, it looks
like it works, but nothing happens. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Your best bet may be to use the camera
controls to delete your files. Before deleting
anything be sure you have copies saved on
your hard drive and it's also a good idea to
burn copies of your unedited originals on
CD-Rs.
