XP Cached Logins

We currently have an IT policy that restricts people fro sharing their
passwords even with IT. We have a manager that wants us to be able to setup
domain users on windows XP without ever having to login as them. We have
explained that you have to login as the user at least once while connected to
the network so XP can validate the account and cache the login information.
He however wants a technical answer explaining why this is required.

It would be helpfull if i could get a response from a MS person confirming
what we have stated and providing a breif explaination of why. Thank you in
advance.

If you don't know what the password is when you create the account, the password
is blank, and anyone can login as that user the first time the account is
accessed.

However, you can assign a password to the account and force the user to change it
upon first login.

In neither case do you have to login as the user.

Then you might want to contact MS, which isn't here. www.microsoft.com

I'm hoping that someon from MS monitors this newsgroup. Like they do
the rest.

They don't. I don't know what "the rest" means, but these are public
newsgroups hosted on Microsoft servers. While Microsoft employees
occasionally pop in, the majority of regular helpers (like me for
instance) are volunteers who don't work for the company.

As you were told, if you want Microsoft's attention, you will need to
contact the company directly.
