I had an XP/SP2 system working fine for quite a while. One day, after
a restart, the system no longer boots. It does not get to the XP logo.
It does not even get to the boot menu. After the BIOS finishes, the
system just hangs. I created an XP boot disk (formatting and copying
NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM, BOOT.INI from another XP/SP2 system with a single
IDE drive) and tried to boot the system, and the same thing happens.
The IDE DPS test available from the PC's BIOS menu showed no problems.
I booted from my XP CD, and after the message "inspecting hardware
configuration..." I get the same blank/black screen.
I booted a 3rd-party recovery CDROM, and I saw the hard drive (single
partiion 160gb C: drive) and all files fine.
It just won't boot XP.
Help!
