Hello,
I have been working on a laptop (XP SP1) with serious spyware and virus
infections. I was able to run several registry cleaning, anti-virus
and anti-spyware programs and I am reasonably certain all traces of
malicious software have been erradicated. I also installed recovery
console as part of the troubleshooting (for CHKDSK).. After all of
this work, I am left will some troubling residual effects.
-Device manager shows no devices.
-System does not recogize the CD-ROM is present when booted in XP
-Even though system BIOS recognizes the CD-ROM is present, and is
ranked 1st in boot order, the System Restore CD will not boot (or any
CD for that matter)
There are some other issues currently, but the lack of ability to boot
to the CD-ROM is most troubling. Any ideas or suggestions on how to
solve this dilemma?
Thanks,
Kehry Lane
