Triple Posted. The web interface is getting annoying.

Microsoft's take:

Q. My new computer came loaded with Windows XP Home Edition, but Backup is
not on it. How can I get it?
A. Backup was originally designed for use in corporate backup scenarios with
tape backup devices not commonly found in the home. If you want to use
Backup, you can install it from the Windows XP Home Edition CD.

To install the Backup utility manually

1.Insert the Windows XP Home Edition CD.
2.Click Perform additional tasks.
3.Navigate to the VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP folder.
4.Double-click the ntbackup.msi file.

For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311246

However - there are people out there who have made it available...
http://home.comcast.net/~cerelli/ntbackup.msi

So get it, install it and read up on how to use it!

Yes - thus why I gave you the link to download the file in case you could
not use your CD or contact you OEM to make them give you the rest of what
you purchased...

I will give it again...

This will allow you to download the file in question to install the NTBackup
software. You should read up (again) on its use here:

Indeed, but why did you respond to all three? ;)

Simply because someone who is using the web interface might have difficulty
finding their posts... I figured if I responded in exactly the same way to
all three - not only would it help the OP (making it more likely they would
find the answer when looking for it) but it also archived it three times in
the search engines - giving a greater chance of coming up during a search.
;-)

If the redundancy already exists - it might as well be a full redundancy
instead of one that might lead to frustration or incorrect answers. ;-)

Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on XP Home. If
you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the CD, in
\ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself by doubleclicking the file
ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi Also see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302894

However as backup programs, this is probably the least capable of available
choices. My advice is to select one of the third-party alternatives instead,
like my personal favorite, Acronis True Image.

I wonder if the web portal provides message cancellation functionality… doubtful. :( No wonder message boards are becoming more
popular and USENET is being dropped by ISPs. Personally I hate having to register with message boards, especially for each separate
topic, otherwise they are better in a lot of ways. The Google interface to USENET isn't bad, but even that isn't ideal.

yes,

Sorry i dont know why it posted 3 times, sorry about that

Probably because when you clicked the submit button, it didn't respond for a while, so you clicked it again, thinking that it did
not work.

The page should have code to handle that. I've seen pages that allow multiple submit clicks, which can result in multiple
submissions and I've seen pages that prevent subsequent clicks after the first, which can be a pain in the butt if it fails. A
properly designed page should tell you that you've already submitted and to wait (or tell you to cut it some slack if it's a saucy
page). If it fails, it should give you the opportunity to resubmit, especially without having to reenter it all.
